Living in North Palm Beach

North Palm Beach was incorporated as a village in 1956 and won a National Association of Home Builders award that year as the best planned community. It is sited on an island surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway and reached by three bridges: Lighthouse Drive to the west, Earman River Road to the south and the US 1 Parker drawbridge to the north. About 13,000 people lived here at the 2020 census.

Why buyers choose it

  • Boating access. Waterfront homes with docks and marina-based condominium communities, with the Intracoastal on every side.
  • Golf. The village-owned North Palm Beach Country Club opened in 1963 and has a Jack Nicklaus Signature course open to the public seven days a week. Lost Tree Village, a private club community, is also located here.
  • Beach and nature. John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is nearby, which keeps the northern beaches quiet and natural.
  • Everyday services. Northlake Boulevard is the main commercial corridor, and the village has its own library.
Before you buy

What to know before you buy in North Palm Beach

The median age here is above 55, and the market reflects that: a lot of long-time owners, quiet streets and strong demand for single-level living and waterfront. Because the village is small and mostly built out, available inventory can be thin, and the right home often takes patience.

Bridges matter. A drawbridge can slow the commute and a fixed bridge limits the size of the boat that can pass. If you own a sailboat or a larger vessel, check the route to the inlet, the dock depth and the seawall condition before an offer. Flood zone and insurance are important on island and waterfront properties.

For marina communities, ask about slip ownership versus rental and what the association covers, because the monthly fee can include dockage, insurance or neither.

Questions

North Palm Beach buyer and seller questions

Is North Palm Beach a good place for boat owners?

Yes. The village is on an island surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway, with waterfront homes and marina communities. Check dock depth, seawall condition and bridge clearances for your boat before an offer.

Can anyone play golf at North Palm Beach Country Club?

The village-owned club has a Jack Nicklaus Signature course that is open to the public seven days a week. Private club communities nearby operate with memberships.

How is North Palm Beach different from the Town of Palm Beach?

They are separate municipalities. The Town of Palm Beach is the famous island to the south, with estates and Worth Avenue. North Palm Beach is a smaller waterfront village with a more residential, boating-oriented character. Michael works in both.
